Speculate/Accumulate
Well, looks like the final nail has been driven into Game Network TV and with it goes BXB's affiliation with the channel.
News that Dan Scammel left the company last week Whoops! Looks like my sources were wrong! Dan is still working hard filming babes! has pretty much ended speculation about the return of the channel since it was closed down a few months ago. When I recently met Dan in London for a few drinks I heard the alarm bells ringing but like a true optimist Dan stayed positive.
Ash and I took the decision to remove the Game Network tag from our General Gaming forum earlier in the week and I was sad to see it go.
A lot of people would level the same sort of criticism at Game Network TV that it was a load of rubbish and Sky 1's rather shocking Gamesville is actually better but I always believed that Game Network could have become much more than what it was with the right backing and the right people.
I felt that if the channel had been given another chance to move forward then I'd have been able to help improve the content of the show, sadly, it now looks like I won't be making my TV debut.
It's a shame to see this potentially beneficial affiliation end but you have to speculate to accumulate!

I'm not. I think gaming really hasn't hit the true mainstream yet in the UK. Gamers are still generally perceived as geeks and nerds and gaming shows do little to counter that perception.
Without blowing my own trumpet, GN had no games programming before I joined. I managed to create 2 programs highlighting the need for each type in the sector, and we made money. That's why we took on more staff, so we could do more and raise the quality. However, once more staff came on, i didn't have control of the budget, and we lost alot of money indeed!
However, I'm proud of what Pete and then Dan achieved on no Budget. Its a shame, but Cellcast is now a public ltd company, and as such they think about P&L. The game floor went from black to red. Dan did great for what he had to play with, its just a shame that the confidence I and others such as Dan had in the product wasn't held in the same regard by the accountants.
I think Dan had the drive, the passion and the ideas to make Game Network work! I think he lacked backing in terms of money and more experienced people behind the scenes!
You need serious words with Larry then mate, spreading such rumours!
